Video Conferencing Is A Major Business Asset

Video conferencing, as clear from the name itself, is a technology that allows two or more locations or parties to interact through two-way video and audio transmissions, simultaneously. Video conferencing is one of the most advanced forms of conference calls, and has a tremendous effect on almost all aspects of business. Video conferencing is a relatively new technique and requires a lot of infrastructural setup, software, and network. However, with the advent of Internet, it has been made quite easy and economic, as more efficient video compression technologies were developed that permit desktop-based video conferencing.

Video conferencing basically works on digital compression of audio and video streams in real time, and involves a set of equipments. The hardware or software involved in the process of compression of audio or video streams is called a codec—coder/decoder. The compression rate achieved by this codec depends upon the requirements, and it can reach up to 1:500.

Some of the basic components that any video conferencing system includes are: video camera, computer monitor or television, microphones, speakers or telephone system, and an analog or digital telephone network, LAN, or Internet.

One of the major problems that anybody can experience during the video conferencing is the echoing of the voice. However, all the video conferencing systems come with a basic system of acoustic echo cancellation. It detects the echoing of the voice, and blocks it from re-entering the input device.

Multipoint Control Video Conferencing Services

Multipoint control unit, popularly known as MCU, allows simultaneous video conferencing among three or more remote points. MCU works like a bridge of conventional audio conferencing call that interconnects calls from several sources. Obviously, the characteristics of an MCU are marked according to its ability to handle the number of calls. MCUs also need to ensure continuous transportation of data rates and protocols.

Usage of Video Teleconferencing Services

Video conferencing with its advanced features is being used in almost all the spheres of life; however, some special sectors have received greater benefits than others. Education, business, and medicines have used video conferencing pretty efficiently for their needs. It allows remote-education possible, where lecturers and teachers can work without being actually present in the place. Telemedicine and tele-nursing fields are using video conferencing for many purposes, like, diagnosis, consulting, and transmission of medical images, etc. Business and corporate sector have used video conferencing for meetings on short notice, and when participants are located on different places.

So, we can say that video conferencing has already benefited in many areas, and it can grow its impact to general public also very easily.
